Material choices are limited, with photopolymers and transparent resins being the most common, though research is advancing toward higher-performance optical plastics and glass.

Post-processing is critical for improving optical quality. Techniques like polishing, UV curing, and thermal annealing help reduce surface roughness and enhance clarity. Coatings may also be applied to improve transmission and reduce unwanted reflections, ensuring that the final product meets optical standards.
